CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK AND PRACTICAL APPROACH TO ADVANCING SUSTAINABLE ACADEMIC COOPERATION NETWORKS: A CASE STUDY OF SUAN DUSIT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This article presents and analyzes Suan Dusit University's conceptual framework of "From Collaboration to Co-Creation," developed in response to the challenges facing higher education in the era of artificial intelligence. This era compels universities to transition from the role of "Knowledge Provider" to that of "Wisdom Incubator." The study employs an Analytical Literature Review methodology, integrated with policy document analysis and institutional case studies from Suan Dusit University, drawing upon both domestic and international research. The framework comprises four systematically interconnected components: (1) the university's distinctive identity and Living Lab infrastructure, which serve as a foundation for partnerships at every level; (2) the SDU Goal 2025–2028 strategic plan, driven by four pillars — Student Development, Staff Development, Research and Innovation, and Social Engagement; (3) a five-step cooperation model progressing from Intent to Impact, which transforms partnerships from isolated events into continuous, measurable processes; and (4) the SDU SMART Partnership principles — Strategic, Measurable, Accountable, Resourced, and Time-bound — as practical tools for designing meaningful collaboration. These components are validated through three empirical case studies and supported by evidence drawn from international academic literature. The article concludes with policy recommendations directed at Suan Dusit University, Thai universities broadly, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), with the aim of elevating academic cooperation networks toward generating sustainable and tangible social impact in Thailand.
