Competencies of Educational Leaders in the 21st Century

Abstract
This article aimed to examine the competencies required for effective educational leadership in the 21st century through a comprehensive literature review, five core competencies were identified: 1) Strategic Leadership: this involves the ability to set a clear vision, develop strategic plans, and effectively lead an educational institution. It encompasses skills such as SWOT analysis, systems thinking, and data-driven decision-making. 2) Innovative Leadership: Innovative leaders are characterized by their creativity, bold in thoughts, risk-taking, and ability to adapt to change. They foster a culture of innovation and open-minded. 3) Vision of change: Visionary leaders have a clear and compelling vision for the future of their institution. They can anticipate future trends and challenges and inspire others to work towards common goals. 4) Teamwork: Effective educational leaders are skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, staff, parents, and community members. They foster a collaborative and supportive school culture, and 5) Human Resource Development: this competency involves recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality staff.
