Abstract
Buddhist research plays an important role in developing educational leadership, especially the application of Satipaṭṭhhāna (the Four Foundations of Mindfulness), which consists of: Kāyānupassanā (the contemplation of body), Vedanānupassanā (the contemplation of feeling, Cittānupassanā (the contemplation of mind), and Dhammānupassanā (the contemplation of Dhamma (mind objects). These four principles are applied to create the ability to be self-aware, control emotions, and make decisions with virtue and wisdom. The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is an important foundation that enables administrators to work effectively under pressure and complexity, training oneself to be mindful of one’s own body and mind will help enhance the ability to think, analyze, and make decisions accurately. Effective educational administration does not only come from resource management, but also from developing leadership that can respond to changes in a modern way. This principle can also be applied in organizations that require cooperation and unity in developing teams and creating long-term success. The research results show that leaders who use the Four Foundations of Mindfulness in their operations are able to solve problems and develop organizations in a better direction effectively. This research aimed to propose guidelines for applying the Buddhist principles in developing educational leaders by creating moral and ethical leadership in educational institutions.
