Abstract

This article examines the ethical implications of establishing casinos in Thailand from the perspective of Islamic teachings. It analyzes this issue through the lens of religious doctrines, Islamic ethics, and the contemporary Thai social context. The analysis reveals that, based on evidence from the Qur’an and Hadith, gambling is explicitly prohibited (haram) and is considered to cause serious harm both spiritually and socially. Legalizing casinos in Thailand may result in significant social, economic, and moral consequences, particularly within Muslim communities, where gambling is forbidden. Therefore, this article argues that any policy decision regarding casinos should consider religious ethics and the broader value-based impacts on society.
