The Local Political Participation of the People in The Organization Administration of Prasat Subdistrict, Khukhan District, Sisaket Province

Abstract

The study area is Prasat Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Khukhan District, Si Sa Ket Province. For quantitative research, the instrument used is a questionnaire with a reliability test of 0.868. The sample group is 380 people living in Prasat Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Khukhan District, Si Sa Ket Province. The sample size is determined by Taro Yamane's calculation and a multi-stage random sampling method. For qualitative research, the instrument used is an interview form. Interviews were conducted with 10 key informants, including executives, members of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization Council, and community leaders, using purposive sampling. The statistics used in quantitative research are frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-value, and F-value. For qualitative research, The content analysis of the data showed that 1) The overall participation in local politics of the people was at a moderate level ( Mean = 3.48, SD = .486), ranked from most to least as follows: participation in decision-making had a high average, followed by participation in benefits with a moderate average, participation in evaluation with a moderate average, and participation in practice with a moderate average. 2) The results of the comparison of participation in local politics of the people classified by personal factors found that people with different genders, education levels, occupations, average monthly incomes, and experiences in local politics participation had different participation in local politics with statistical significance at the 0.05 level. As for the factor of age, there was no statistical significance. 3) The guidelines for promoting local political participation are important to create knowledge and understanding in the community, especially the roles and responsibilities and the necessity of participating in various local activities, such as meetings, training activities, voting, and listening to policies from organizations and local leaders, etc.
