Participatory Political Culture of Leaders Affecting the Development Based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in Surin Province.

Abstract

This study was a mixed-method research between quantitative and qualitative research. The quantitative research used a questionnaire to collect data from a model self-sufficient economy community at a well-being, well-eating, and prosperous level in Surin Province in fiscal year 2024 , with a reliability coefficient of 0.903.  The sample group consisted of 370 people. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane's calculation and a multi-stage sampling method from a population of 4,444 people.The statistics used in the research were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, The qualitative research conducted in -depth interviews with 10 samples, including key informants, community leaders who participated in the model self-sufficient economy village project of Surin Province Community Development at a well-eating, well-eating, and prosperous level in fiscal year 2024 by purposive sampling. Qualitative research used an interview as the research tool and analyzed data in terms of content.

The results found that 1) Overall, the participatory political culture of leaders found that the public's opinions on the participatory political culture of leaders were at a high level (Mean = 4.22, S.D. = .402). When considering each aspect, ranked from highest to lowest, they were as follows: public trust, followed by community participation, openness to feedback, transparency in administration, and public responsibility, respectively. 2) Overall, development according to the philosophy of the sufficiency economy found that the overall average was at a high level (Mean = 4..09, S.D. = .389). When considering each aspect, ranked from highest to lowest, they were as follows: moderation, followed by morality, reasoning, knowledge use, and immunity, respectively. 3) Guidelines for promoting participatory political culture of leaders for development according to the philosophy of the sufficiency economy should have regular meetings to inform news and provide a space for the public to participate in expressing their opinions on administration. And should promote learning and self-development according to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy from the youth level to instill awareness in living life according to the Sufficiency Economy philosophy.
