Abstract

This article aimed to study, analyze, and propose guidelines for promoting classroom research in teachers based on the Kalyanamitta 7, which are Buddhist approaches that emphasize promoting morality and good relationships between teachers and students, so that teachers can effectively develop classroom teaching. The Kalyanamitta 7 consist of: characteristics such as being an intellectual refuge, being a good role model, and giving straightforward advice, all of which can be applied to develop teachers’ classroom research skills. This research process uses qualitative methods and collects data from teachers who have experience in classroom research to present a case study that demonstrates how teachers have applied the Kalyanamitta 7 to develop students’ learning. The promotion of classroom research based on the Kalyanamitta principle is considered an important development of teaching quality. The National Education Act of 2542, B.E., and the teacher professional standards stipulate that teacher use research to develop teaching and learning. Classroom research helps teachers solve problems in the classroom effectively, enhances analytical and problem-solving skills, and develops students to have critical thinking and appropriate teamwork abilities. However, the problems found are that teachers still lack knowledge and skills in research, lack of supporting resources from educational institutions, and lack of interest from administrators. These causes cause classroom research to not be promoted as much as it should be. The Kalyanamitta principle is one approach that emphasizes that educational institution administrators support and create an atmosphere of cooperation among teachers in conducting research systematically. The results of this support can help solve students’ learning problems and improve the quality of education management. The research results indicate that the application of the Kalyanamitta 7 principles in the classroom research process can help strengthen good relationships in the classroom, promote an atmosphere conducive to learning, and help teachers develop their own and their students’ potential sustainably.
