The New Dynamics of Thai Bureaucracy: Applying Principles of Good Governance to Enhance the Efficiency of Public Administration in the Digital Era

Public administration in the digital era faces new challenges in transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, requiring administrative system improvements aligned with good governance principles that emphasize efficiency and responsiveness to public needs.
This academic article presents 1) the development and core concepts of good governance in the context of public administration 2) the current situation and challenges faced by Thai public administration in the digital era 3) a conceptual framework for applying good governance principles in the digital age 4) approaches to enhancing the efficiency of public sector management, and 5) policy recommendations for the development of the Thai bureaucracy. The knowledge derived from this study will be highly beneficial to public sector executives, scholars, and policymakers in improving bureaucratic efficiency and truly meeting the needs of citizens in the digital era. The application of good governance principles in conjunction with digital technology is not only a tool for improving operations but also a fundamental pillar in building a credible, highly efficient, and sustainable Thai public sector in the long term. However, the success of this transformation depends on the collaboration of all sectors of society, alongside the establishment of proactive and continuous policy frameworks. These will be critical driving forces in propelling Thailand toward becoming a truly good governance-based digital government in the future.
