Keywords:
Area Studies, Da NangAbstract
This academic article is presented as a scholarly travelogue that records memorable experiences abroad from a study visit to Da Nang, Vietnam. The study reflects the diversity and differences in ways of life, spending patterns, and cultural dimensions of neighboring countries within the ASEAN Community. Although the program lasted only three days and two nights, it was enriched with valuable academic experiences and unforgettable memories.
The visits to various sites-including an exploration of the distinctive geography and innovative management of Ba Na Hills, the study of cultural heritage conservation in the ancient town of Hoi An, the understanding of beliefs and faith toward the Goddess of Mercy at Linh Ứng Pagoda, as well as an examination of the economic dimension and local livelihoods in community areas-provided empirical insights with academic value in the field of Area Studies. These experiences offer a clear perspective on the quality of life and the local social structure. A particularly noteworthy observation is the absence of beggars in Da Nang, which signifies the city’s effective and orderly social management system.
