Visionary Leadership in Educational Administration for Sustainability Through the Integration of Buddhist Principles: an Analysis of Papanika Dhamma

Abstract

The purpose of this article was the rapid changes taking place in the world require every element of society to adapt accordingly. Visionary leadership is crucial for organizations and promoting leadership that embodies both virtue and vision can create sustainable success. This article aims to propose the application of Buddhist principles as a way to promote balance in individuals' lives and a clear understanding of the organizational context. The study uses a documentary approach, content analysis, and descriptive presentation. The findings reveal that: 1) The principle of papanika dhamma encompasses visionary leadership qualities, essential for leaders to efficiently develop their organizations. These qualities include: 1.1) Cakkhuma – meaning 'one with good eyesight', the ability to see opportunities in various situations and understand the needs of the target audience. 1.2) Vituro – meaning 'business clarity', the ability to efficiently manage one’s tasks or organizational operations. 1.3) Nissayasampanno – the capability and preparedness with available resources, meaning the ability to raise and manage funds with simplicity. 2) The application of papanika Dhamma for developing visionary leadership in the current context includes: 2.1) Promoting education and enhancing leadership capacity in educational management by using Buddhist principles, enabling leaders to apply Papanika dhamma in all aspects of administration. 2.2) Building support networks for working. A strong network must emphasize trust, honesty, and effective communication, fostering sustainable relationships, genuine support, and consistent connections to strengthen and grow together.
