PERFORMANCE EVALUATION RESEARCH OF SUCCESS AND IMPACT FACTORS ON EDUACTIONAL MANAGEMENT OF ASSUMPTION THONBURI SCHOOL

Abstract

This study had five objectives: (1) evaluate the contributory and obstructive factors in learning and teaching management; (2) examine the success and impact factors towards school administration; (3) analyze the factors affecting parent and guardian's decision on study continuation of the students; (4) compare the result with another equated national education institute; and (5) recommend the guidelines for the development of curriculums and learning management processes responding to the society's needs. The study informants consisted of several Assumption Thonburi School stakeholders: representatives from the school board of directors, teachers, parents and guardians, and alumni. This research was conducted by several research methodologies: data collection from literature review and interview, including Content Analysis for qualitative data. In terms of quantitative data collection, Rating Scale and some Descriptive Statistics were applied: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, together with Multiple Regression Analysis. The results showed that modern and diverse studying programs integrated with concrete STEM education, external agency cooperation, practical and various learning activity arrangement, student potential promotion through activity, and curriculum design are contributing factors in learning and teaching management. Meanwhile, teaching personnel recruitment and lack of understanding of the new student organization structure are obstructive factors. The successful factors towards school administration are explicit administrative direction, plan implementation, decentralized and data-driven administration, support from external agency, personnel development promotion regarding organization requirements, staff engagement, and security system establishment. On the contrary, the impact factors are classroom attendance rate, student retention, fair employee welfare, and task-based salary payment. For the factor affecting parent's and guardian's decision on study continuation of the children, they are secure and convenient school environment, well-designed, various, and standardized curriculum, good shared valuable from student's friend, commitment among students, and teacher on school. Meanwhile, the factors on student discontinuation are the requirement and value of parent and guardian, tuition fee, and student requirement to find a new school. The guidelines for curriculum development and learning management process that responds to the needs of society consistsed of 6 dimensions; curriculum development, learning activities management, student development, teacher development, media, equipment and learning supporting, and public relations.
