The Development of Vocal Technique to Eliminate Vocal Breaks (Passaggio) During Vocal Register Transitions in Adolescences

Abstract

The purposes of this study were: (1) to improve vocal training to eliminate vocal breaks (Passaggio) during vocal register transitions in singing students selected by specific in KPN Music Academy Central Plaza Khon Kaen, Thailand; and (2) to assess the results of the improvement.
The Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection (PAOR) Cycle was adopted to establish the procedure and methodology of this research. The sample were 2 male students and 4 female students selected by specific in KPN Music Academy Central Plaza Khon Kaen. Using one group pretest-posttest design. The study instruments were 6 learning management plans for 6 cycles. The set of data collecting, and reflection tools consisted of a teacher’s diary, student worksheet, and the achievement test.
The results of this study were found 1) the development of student learning skill had improved. 2) the sample’s posttest score was higher than pretest score with a statistical significance level of .05. 3) The learning management plans had the efficiency criteria (E1/E2) at 87.10/88.29 that was higher than criterion at 80/80. 4) The Effectiveness Index (E.I.) was 0.75, indicating that students improved their performance by 75 percent.
