A Study to Learning Behaviors of Students in Marching Band Activities
Abstract
The purposes of this study were to study the learning behavior of marching band students in terms of their response to the music directors' teaching methods. This qualitative research applied as a methodology for conducting research. Data was collected through participant observation using behavioral observation forms. Participants that were purposively selected included 40 marching band students and 3 music directors. Content analysis was used to create inductive conclusions, checked by data triangulation process before presented as conclusion. The results revealed students’ learning behaviors. There were consistent with the music directors’ teaching and activities. Students’ responses were into four levels including 1) Attention, 2) Focus, 3) Concern, and 4) Anxiety.
