The Study of Appropriate melody of Lanna Folk Songs to Create the Basic Repertoire for Wind Band in Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This objective of this article was to study the appropriate melody of Lanna folk songs to create the practice song for wind band in Chiang Rai Province by the findings on research title “Culture Surveillance  for Creation of Music Studies of Wind Band From Lanna Music”.  the selection of the song was considered from the melody. It was the melody that was taught by all Lanna folk song teachers which was known to the students. Furthermore, the selection depended on the moderate melodic motion. Findings illustrated that eight melodies were selected as the most appropriate melody for creating the basic repertoire song for the wind band, which were Long Mae Ping, Rue Si Long Tham, Prasat Wai, Pum Peng, Sroi Wiang Ping, Rabam Kai Jae, Fon Saw Mai, and Moo Hao Jao Neua.
