Music Activities for Ageing Society Preparation

Abstract

Arranging music activities in preparing for ageing society refers to activities focusing on music teaching process to develop the elderly’s fundamental musical skills, behaviors and personalities. This is to help better their understanding and attitude towards music in relation to physical and mental development, which is derived from music education for children. Even though procedures from music education, taken from various renowned music education theorists and implemented by many music teachers, are mainly adapted for children, these procedures, along with their approaches and principles, are now used for the elderly to best suit their ability and skill. Furthermore, rubrics assessment is applied, which practically rating not only the elderly’s musical skills, but also their physical and mental abilities, behaviors and personalities.
