JA KHE VARIATIONS IN ENSEMBLE

Abstract

The research of “Ja Khe Variations In Ensemble" was the qualitative research methodology. The objectives of the study were to Study methods of how to play Ja Khe in ensemble and Create melody of Ja Khe in the principle’s ensemble. The research methodologies were studied, analyzed, synthesized and interpreted from information, which were gathered from fieldwork documentation, formal and informal in-depth interviewing and participant observation by the steps of the ethnomusicology research process. The research results were as follows: 

The responsible of Ja Khe is playing with other musical instruments and lead musical instrument in ensemble same as Ranad Aek  and Saw Duang. The tempo of Krueng Sai Ensemble is not fast and there are techniques for Ja Khe playing , Sabat refer to a technique of playing music by way of adding an extra single note to the kep, Rua is employed, alternating in and out frequently.  

Homrong Maharat and Homrong Thoet Sor Thor are the Overture song, the various of melodic verse. Most of them are Bungcubthang (fix melodic verse), Some of verse are Tangphuen (Variations melodic verse), Some of verse are identity of song. Ja Khe various must be appropriates the main melody that the objective of composer.
