Abstract

An étude is a musical composition designed to develop specific technical and musical skills. The purpose of such a piece is to allow musicians to focus on and master particular aspects of performance. This study analyzes an étude composed by Mauro Giuliani for classical guitar, published around 1813 during the height of his fame in Vienna. The analysis is divided into two parts: (1) the use of harmony within the composition, and (2) the performance approach. The findings serve as practical guidance for classical guitar practice and technical development, particularly for beginner and intermediate players. This study provides insights into harmonic structure, left- and right-hand techniques, and interpretative strategies that contribute to effective musical skill enhancement.
