Promoting Historical Tourism of Sadok Kok Thom Historical Park
Keywords:
Tourism Promotion, Historical Tourism, Sadok Kok Thom Historical ParkAbstract
This article aimed to analyze and propose guidelines for promoting historical tourism at Sadok Kok Thom Historical Park in Sa Kaeo Province, a significant Khmer archaeological site in Eastern Thailand. The paper focuses on assessing the site’s potential and unique identity as a tourism destination with outstanding historical, architectural, and cultural value, as well as evaluating the current marketing and public relations situation. Findings reveal that, despite its remarkable beauty and historical importance, Sadok Kok Thom Historical Park still lacks effective tourism promotion and integrated collaboration between relevant agencies and local communities. The article proposes three main approaches for tourism promotion: (1) proactive marketing and identity creation, (2) development of tourism products and services linked to local communities and experiential activities, and (3) management that encourages community participation throughout the process. These approaches are expected to enhance competitiveness, raise awareness, and attract more tourists. Furthermore, they support the formulation of policies and strategic marketing plans that address economic, social, and cultural heritage conservation goals, thereby elevating the site’s profile and recognition at a broader level.
