Abstract

Buddhism in the digital era plays a crucial role in self-development and the dissemination of Buddhist teachings through technology, such as mindfulness applications, online learning, and platforms for exchanging religious experiences. Core Buddhist principles, such as mindfulness practice and the reduction of attachment, have been integrated with modern psychology to promote physical and mental balance. The design of Buddhist curricula in the digital age must consider the mindful and creative use of technology to ensure that learners can effectively access and apply Buddhist teachings in daily life. Additionally, online meditation programs and cross-cultural learning networks help expand the reach of Buddhism on a global scale. However, key challenges include the lack of empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of digital methods compared to traditional approaches, as well as the issue of digital inequality, which affects learners’ accessibility. Therefore, the dissemination of Buddhism in the digital era should focus on developing technology that facilitates sustainable Buddhist practice while mitigating the negative impacts of excessive technology use.
