Developing Strategic Management Guidelines of Lessening Stress for College Students: A Case Study of Bazhong Vocational and Technical College, China

The objective of this research was to develop strategic management guidelines for lessening stress for college students of Bazhong Vocational and Technical College, China. The samples consisted of 353 students and 60 teachers, who were randomly with stratified random sampling method. Data were collected by using rating scale questionnaire, including 24 questions for teachers and 24 questions for students. That was reviewed for item-objective congruence (IOC) by three specialists, with IOC values ranging from 0.67 to 1.00. The data were analyzed by using content analysis and descriptive statistics, including frequency, mean, and standard deviation. The research finding indicated that 1) students believed that reducing stress requires an improvement in teacher expertise were at the "highest" level. Teachers indicated that mental health education should concentrate on enhancing students' cognitive skills at the "highest" level. School administrators indicated that college students need sufficient resources to manage stress and emphasize the importance of classroom environments at the "highest" level. 2) The strategic management guidelines for alleviating college student stress consisted of five parts, including (1) Stress Evaluation and Analysis, (2) Stress reduction goal setting and strategy planning, (3) Resource support and construction, (4) Stress reduction practice and skill development, (5) Evaluation and improvement.
