APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN WESTERN MUSIC EDUCATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

This academic article aims to study the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in western music education in higher education institutions, focusing on the following aspects: Issue 1 - Concepts regarding higher education institutions; Issue 2 - Content knowledge integrated with teaching methods and technology, examining the relationship between the three core knowledge domains of instructors for effective learning management; and Issue 3 - Approaches to applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) in western music education, both theoretical and practical components. The study findings reveal that: 1) Regarding the study of AI application in western music education in higher education institutions: Issue 1 - Concepts about higher education institutions, Part 1: Higher Education Management Standards B.E. 2565 (2022), Chapter 2, Section 12, contains 5 key elements; Part 2: Higher Education Qualifications Standards B.E. 2565 (2022), Section 4, encompasses 4 important dimensions: 1) Knowledge, 2) Skills, 3) Ethics, and 4) Personal characteristics. Issue 2 - Content knowledge integrated with teaching methods and technology comprises 3 core knowledge domains: content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and technological knowledge. Issue 3 - Approaches to applying AI in western music education, theoretical and practical components: For the theoretical component, the key aspect is utilizing western music knowledge in western music teaching and learning through practical transmission methods. The fundamental principles of theoretical western music instruction are of great importance. For the practical component, the key focus is human capital development in the creative economy era, helping to enhance specialized skills in aesthetics and expert practical music performance. This includes the application of AINA for classical music composition for personalized learning, and the use of Suno AI applied to creating movie soundtrack compositions, including music for short dramas with diverse vocal and instrumental accompaniments, for teamwork and diverse learning among students.
