Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies for Sustainable Development places the highest importance on ethical standards in research and scholarly publishing. The Journal is committed to promoting the credibility, transparency, and social responsibility of published works by adhering to the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the standards for academic journal management prescribed by the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI). All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, and reviewers, are expected to comply with the following ethical principles.

 

1. Responsibilities of Authors

 Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are based on genuine research or scholarly work and that all data, findings, and interpretations are accurate, complete, and verifiable. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of research results is strictly prohibited.
 Authors must certify that the submitted manuscript is an original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
 Authors must not engage in plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. All sources of information, concepts, theories, and prior works must be properly acknowledged and cited in accordance with accepted academic standards.
 All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the research, data analysis, or manuscript preparation and must approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.
 Authors must disclose all sources of research funding, potential conflicts of interest, and any relationships that may influence the interpretation of research findings.
 Research involving human participants, animals, or personal data must receive approval from an appropriate research ethics committee prior to commencement. Relevant ethical approval information must be clearly stated in the manuscript.
 If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their manuscript after submission or publication, they must promptly notify the Editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article as appropriate.

 

2. Responsibilities of Editors

 Editors are responsible for evaluating the quality and suitability of submitted manuscripts based on academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the scholarly community.
 Editors must make publication decisions fairly and impartially, without discrimination based on race, nationality, gender, religion, social status, institutional affiliation, or other personal characteristics of the authors.
 Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all information related to submitted manuscripts, authors, and reviewers, and must not use such information for personal advantage.
 Editors must ensure that manuscripts are reviewed by qualified experts in relevant fields and that the review process follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review system.
 Editors must screen manuscripts for plagiarism and compliance with research ethics requirements before initiating the review process. Any suspected misconduct must be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.
 Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest. In such cases, editorial responsibility should be delegated to an impartial editor.
 Editors are responsible for investigating, correcting, clarifying, or retracting published articles when serious errors, research misconduct, plagiarism, data fabrication, or other ethical violations are identified.

 

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

 Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and solely on the basis of academic quality, without personal bias.
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts and associated information as confidential and must not use or disclose such information for personal benefit or to third parties.
 Reviewers should complete their evaluations within the designated timeframe and promptly inform the Editor if they are unable to undertake or complete the review.
 Reviewers should provide constructive, clear, and evidence-based comments that assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts.
 Reviewers must notify the Editor if they identify plagiarism, inappropriate citation practices, data manipulation, fabrication, or any conduct that may violate research and publication ethics.
 Reviewers must decline to review a manuscript if any conflict of interest exists with the authors, their institutions, or the subject matter of the manuscript that could compromise objectivity.
 Reviewers should assess manuscripts with regard to academic quality, methodological rigor, validity and reliability of findings, and the contribution of the work to knowledge and sustainable development.

 

Procedures for Handling Ethical Misconduct

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies for Sustainable Development investigates all allegations or suspicions of research and publication misconduct in a fair, transparent, and systematic manner, following COPE guidelines. If ethical violations are confirmed, including but not limited to plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, redundant publication, or failure to disclose conflicts of interest, the Journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript, retract a published article, issue corrections or notices, or take other appropriate actions to safeguard the integrity, quality, and credibility of the Journal.
