EFFECTS OF PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING ACTIVITIES ON THE MEDIA LITERACY OF GRADE SIX STUDENTS AT PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN NONTHABURI PROVINCE UNDER THE OFFICE OF PRIVATE EDUCATION COMMISSION

The objectives of this research are as follows: (1) to compare the differences the media literacy skills among Grade Six students before and after using problem-based learning activities; (2) to study the satisfaction of Grade Six students with the developed package. The sample consisted of 30 students at Phraharuethai Nonthaburi School and selected by volunteer sampling. The research instruments consisted of the following: (1) a lesson plan according to problem-based learning; (2) an academic achievement test for media literacy skills; (3) a scale to measure the satisfaction of Grade Six students with the developed package. The data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The differences in academic achievement and media literacy skills were tested with a sample independent t-test. The results of this research indicated the following: (1) after being taught with the developed package, academic achievement was higher than before with a statistical significance of .05; (2) the sample was satisfied with the developed package and the sample had a high level of satisfaction (M = 4.62, SD. = 0.97). When the individual aspects were considered, the sample had a high level of satisfaction with the content and evaluation, the aspect with the highest level of satisfaction was more understanding of media literacy skills. (M = 4.97 และ SD. = 0.18)
