Abstract

Zhangzhou Puppetry, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, integrates puppet performance, music, carving, and painting into a cohesive art form with exceptional artistic and aesthetic value. This study focuses on core elements such as character design and manipulation techniques, systematically extracting cultural genes from an animation design perspective. These include visual symbols like character costumes, props, and color schemes, along with dynamic features. Building on this foundation, we explore and implement digital translation pathways for these cultural genes, aiming to establish a digital resource library and methodology directly applicable to modern animation character design. This initiative provides innovative approaches for the living inheritance and creative application of intangible cultural heritage.
