Tis research, centered on the design of an inspirational creation drawn from koi carp, aimed to: 1. Investigate the species, colors, and patterns of koi carp; 2. Explore creative garment design styles; 3. Examine materials, equipment, and decorative techniques; and 4. Design an inspirational creation based on koi carp colors and patterns, expressed through creative fashion design. The emphasis was placed on utilizing color, pattern, batik dyeing techniques, and initially, non-wearable garment structures to artistically and imaginatively convey beauty.
The researcher explored the forms, hues, and motifs of koi carp, alongside their graceful movements. These observations were analyzed and adapted as a foundation for batik pattern design. The color palette prioritized the striking characteristics of koi carp, incorporating shades of red, gold, orange, and black, interwoven with fish scale patterns and fluid lines representing the movement of water. This aimed to create dimensionality and evoke emotion through the fabric's surface. Batik fabric was then employed to fashion garments in the realm of art-based fashion. These designs possessed a unique character in terms of their structure, form, and novelty. While initially conceived as non-functional art pieces, the intention was to create artistic expressions of the designer's concepts, creativity, and identity.
The research findings revealed that the fusion of natural and cultural inspiration with traditional art techniques like batik can generate new value within creative fashion design. Furthermore, it offers a fresh perspective on fashion as a profound and influential art form, capable of being integrated into everyday life.
