A Study of the Level of Solid Waste Management in Khwao Yai Sub-district Kantharawichai District Maha Sarakham Province

Abstract

This research consists purposes were to investigate the level of solid waste management in Khwao Yai Sub-district, Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province. The research employed a quantitative research design. The research instrument was a structured questionnaire. The sample consisted of 115 residents of Khwao Yai Sub-district, Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province. The sample size was determined using Yamane’s (1973) formula at a 0.05 level of precision. The participants were selected through accidental sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that the overall level of solid waste management in Khwao Yai Sub-district, Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province was at a high level (x̄ = 3.99, S.D. = 0.60). When considering each aspect in descending order of mean scores, the results were as follows (1) regular waste segregation before disposal (x̄ = 4.21, S.D. = 0.63) (2) an organized community waste collection system (x̄ = 4.12, S.D. = 0.68) (3) sufficient and appropriate waste bins according to waste types (x̄ = 4.05, S.D. = 0.71) (4) campaigns or educational activities regarding solid waste management (x̄ = 3.88, S.D. = 0.76) and (5) reuse or recycling practices (x̄ = 3.67, S.D. = 0.82).
