A Study of the Basic Information of Ban Don Ma Yang Community Tat Thong Sub-district Mueang District Yasothon Province

Abstract

This research consists purposes were to explore the basic information of the Ban Don Ma Yang community located in Tat Thong Sub-district Mueang District Yasothon Province. This research a qualitative the research instruments used include interviews and observation forms. The target group consists of 15 individuals selected through purposive sampling. These participants include community leaders, local wisdom keepers and residents who have lived in the community for more than 15 years. The collected data from interviews, observations, and relevant documents were analyzed using content analysis. Research Findings The study found that Ban Don Ma Yang community Tat Thong Sub-district Mueang District Yasothon Province has the following characteristics 1)Economy: The local economy relies mainly on agriculture, especially rice farming (glutinous and jasmine rice), with supplementary income from vegetable growing and livestock. Household income is moderate. Economic groups such as weaving and organic farming help enhance income and stability 2) Society:
The community has strong social ties, a simple lifestyle, mutual support, and participatory leadership. Groups like the elderly, women, and youth are actively engaged in community activities 3) Culture and Traditions:
Local customs are well preserved, especially the “Heet Sib Song, Khong Sib Si” traditions such as the Rocket Festival and Buddhist Lent. Cultural expressions like traditional dance and local dress strengthen community identity 4) Local Wisdom: Traditional knowledge, such as herbal medicine and rice farming techniques, is passed down through generations and has potential for community product development and cultural tourism and 5) Physical Environment: The area features lowlands and hills with natural resources like creeks and farmland. Basic infrastructure (roads, electricity, water) is mostly accessible, though rainy-season roads and internet signals need improvement. Temples, schools, and the community hall are central to local activities.
