Mediation Strategies to Resolve Conflicts in Public Sector Organizations

This article aims to provide knowledge and understanding about the role and importance of mediation in public sector organizations, as well as to suggest effective conflict management strategies that can be applied to improve work efficiency and create peace within organizations. Mediation plays a crucial role in managing conflicts in public sector organizations by fostering cooperation and trust among the parties involved. This study focuses on exploring theories and principles related to mediation, along with presenting case studies and recommendations for developing mediation strategies in public sector organizations. Conflict Theory and Mediation Theory highlight the importance of resolving conflicts through neutral and fair negotiation and mediation processes. Key strategies for mediation in public sector organizations include problem assessment, appointing credible mediators, and creating an environment conducive to negotiation. Factors influencing the success of mediation include leadership roles, stakeholder involvement, and fairness in the process. Case studies from New Zealand and Thailand affirm the importance of these factors.
Recommendations for improving mediation strategies in public sector organizations include promoting continuous training and development of mediators’ skills, fostering an open organizational culture, enhancing internal policies, and encouraging active stakeholder participation. Developing these strategies will improve conflict resolution efficiency and promote a collaborative and sustainable working environment within public sector organizations.
