The Factors Affecting Thai Language Usage Among Teenagers in the Digital Society

Abstract

       This article entitled "factors influencing the usage of the Thai language by adolescents in the digital society" aims to study the factors that affect the use of the Thai language by adolescents in the digital society. It is a study based on the concepts, and relevant theories. Furthermore, the results showed that the factors affecting the use of the Thai language by adolescents in Thailand in the digital society stem from various factors. However, the prominent factors include the preferences of the adolescent group themselves who aim to create shortened words, communicating through popular media, particularly the internet. Additionally, a preference for spoken language over written language, and rapidly spreading mainly through mobile devices. Therefore, the impact on the usage of the Thai language includes the risk of the language losing its beauty and eloquence, which could potentially lead to gradual disappearance of language and cultural heritage in the future.
