Rights and Duties: New Generation Youth and the Development of Governance in a Democratic Regime

Abstract

       This article aims to present perspectives on the rights and duties of youth in developing democratic governance. Youth are a group that plays a significant role and influence in changing society and politics. Youth participation in developing democracy not only promotes the strength of the political system but also helps create a solid foundation for the future of the country that is in accordance with the principles of rights and duties under the law. The rights and duties that youth should perform in order to strengthen a stable democracy are: Be responsible by playing a role in pushing for policies or activities that benefit society; Be knowledgeable and creative by studying and acknowledging political information from various sources in order to understand it logically; Adhere to democratic principles that require understanding and respecting the rules of a democratic society; Be mindful of equality that must not be discriminated against; and Show respect for others and differences in society. It can be clearly seen that modern youth have the opportunity to express their opinions freely through various channels such as social media that adhere to the above principles in order to express their opinions on political and social issues constructively and respect the opinions of others. These are therefore important principles that create democratic strength.
