Abstract

This article presents the integration of Edward de Bono's Six Thinking Hats technique with Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) to systematically enhance students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills in mathematics education. The Six Thinking Hats method facilitates diverse thinking perspectives through six distinct cognitive processes resulting in comprehensive and clear thinking. When the Six Thinking Hats method with Peer-Assisted Learning, which emphasizes collaborative learning and peer support, it will deepen the understanding of mathematical concepts and create a learning environment where learners feel free to ask questions and exchange ideas. This integration is very important in teaching mathematics because it allows students to explore and solve mathematical problems in a creative and systematic way. Combining these two techniques helps develop critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, while fostering valuable interactions among classmates, making mathematics learning more effective and enjoyable. When applying the combination of the Six Thinking Hats technique with Peer-Assisted Learning, the classroom activities involves small group activities where students assume different roles based on the hat colors, with peers working together to present ideas from different perspectives to solve complex mathematical problems. Assigning specific roles to group members also helps develop communication skills, leadership, and collaboration skills.
