About the Journal

The ASEAN Journal of Management & Innovation (AJMI) is an online academic journal listed in Tier 2 of the Thailand Citation Index (TCI) (ISSN: 2351-0307).

The first volume (Volume 1, Number 1) of AJMI was published in June 2014. The goal of AJMI is to publish insightful, original, and timely research that describes or potentially impacts management and/or innovation within the ASEAN context. AJMI is multidisciplinary in scope and encourages interdisciplinary research. The journal welcomes submissions on all topics related to management and innovation, regardless of discipline or subject area. Topics that are distinctly ASEAN-related, or regional/international in scope but relevant to ASEAN readers, are strongly encouraged.

In addition to empirical research, AJMI accepts conceptual papers and papers that provide new insights into previous work and/or conventional wisdom. Structured or systematic literature reviews following a specific methodology are also accepted, although manuscripts that are purely narrative literature reviews are generally discouraged. The journal publishes two issues per year.

We urge all researchers, scholars, and students to visit our website for pertinent articles from local and international contributors that can be useful for their own research.

PERIODICITY

The journal is published twice a year, with submissions accepted year-round:

  • First Issue: January – June
  • Second Issue: July – December

Accepted manuscripts will be scheduled for publication in the next available issue, subject to the successful completion of the peer-review and editorial processes.

 MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the ASEAN Journal of Management & Innovation (AJMI) is to publish original, rigorous, and timely research that advances knowledge in management, innovation, entrepreneurship, and organizational development, with a particular emphasis on ASEAN and other emerging-economy contexts.

AJMI welcomes empirical, theoretical, conceptual, and systematic review studies that make clear contributions to management theory, organizational practice, innovation capability, competitiveness, sustainability, or public policy. Interdisciplinary studies are encouraged provided their primary contribution advances knowledge in management or innovation.

The journal particularly encourages research that addresses issues relevant to ASEAN countries and emerging economies. Studies conducted outside ASEAN are also welcome if they demonstrate clear theoretical, managerial, policy, or contextual relevance to ASEAN or comparable emerging-economy settings.

AJMI seeks to provide a platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange research-based knowledge that contributes to the advancement of management and innovation in a rapidly changing global environment. Manuscripts that are purely descriptive or lack a clear theoretical, managerial, policy, or innovation contribution are generally considered outside the scope of the journal.

 REVIEW PROCESS

The ASEAN Journal of Management & Innovation (AJMI) uses a strict double-blind peer review system. Both author and reviewer identities remain completely anonymous to one another throughout the evaluation process. Every submitted manuscript is rigorously evaluated by three independent expert reviewers. Reviewers are explicitly selected based on their specific expertise in the manuscript's topic area, research methodology, or both. Each article is judged solely by its scientific contribution, scholarly merits, and direct alignment with the journal's mission. Should revisions be requested, our editorial instructions are intentionally designed to constructively guide authors toward a successful publication outcome.
