CREATIVE ECONOMY AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM CITIES

This article aims to examine and analyze the role of the creative economy in developing sustainable tourism cities by synthesizing key concepts regarding its meaning, scope, and essential mechanisms, including culture, innovation, technology, and creativity. The study highlights how the application of the creative economy in the tourism context can transform cultural capital and local wisdom into added value, foster distinctive city identity and branding, enhance community participation, increase competitiveness, and maintain a balance among economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. Nevertheless, tourism cities still face critical challenges such as infrastructure limitations, urban management issues, environmental degradation, and adaptation to globalization and digital transformation. This article proposes academic development guidelines, including creative economy policy formulation for tourism, building creative city networks, empowering local communities and entrepreneurs, and developing human resources in creativity and urban management. These approaches are considered vital pathways to promoting sustainable and distinctive tourism cities in the future.
