IDENTITY POLITICS: DEFINING ROLES IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY
Keywords:
Identity politics, Diversity, Social identity, Equality, Contemporary societyAbstract
This paper examines identity politics in contemporary society, focusing on the role of social identities in political processes and their impacts on society. Identity politics involves groups or individuals using and expressing various identities such as race, gender, religion, and culture to advocate for rights and equality within society. While identity politics has positive effects in promoting diversity and recognition, it also carries the risk of fostering conflict and division among different identity groups, particularly in multicultural and ideologically diverse societies. This paper suggests approaches for managing identity diversity, as well as future research directions to promote equality and acceptance of diversity in society.
