PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF FAMILIES’S POTENTIAL TO AGING CARE IN PHRAE PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research aimed 1) to study the family potential in household environment management in order to take care of elderlies in Phrae Province, 2) To study the family potential in elderly mental care in Phrae Province and 3) to study the roles of monk in developing of elderlies’ family potential in Phrae Province. The methodology of the research was a mix method research by using checklist questionnaire, in-depth interview with 20 families and made the focus group discussion the researchers team, the president of Phrae Elderly Association, president of Phrae Elderly Club in Muang Phrae and Nong Muang Khai District, elderly representatives, subdistrict and village headmen, and monks were 15 persons.

The results were found as follows;

1. the family potential in household environment management in order to take care of elderlies in Phrae Province in 7 aspects were found as follows, 1. elderly bedroom was at 73.57 % 2. elderly bath room was at 50%. 3. staircase was at 65.55%. 4. Handrail was at 95.5 %. 5. door was at 62%. 6. bath room floor was at 50%. 7. household environment was at 64%. The manage household environment in 7 aspects that the budget and the status stability were considered to be the main and important factors.

2. the family potential in elderly mental care in Phrae Province overall was found that the operation aspect was at the highest level (x̄=4.67, 53%). When considered in each items, the item that had the highest level was family members respect and giving honor elderlies to have living experiences, took care elderlies when they were sick., bringing elderlies to medical checkup, and the promotion elderly to realize self-value were at the highest level (x̄ =5.00, 100%). The household environmental management for exercise respectively, family activities organized in order to develop family potential in taking care of elderly mental health consisted of physical enhancement activities, mental health enhancement activities as well as economic activities were at lowest level (x̄=3.70, 40%)

3. The roles of monk in family potential enhancement for taking care of elderlies in Phrae Province were found that there were 5 aspects namely; 1. The role in family potential development about family training be parent gratitude, 2. The role in create morale to elderlies, 3. The role in coordinating related organizations, 4. The role in organizing family activities, and 5. The role in elderly school support and 6. The role in traditional inherit.
