ROLE OF THE ELDERLY GROUP TOWORDS PARTICIPATION SOCIAL, COMMUNITY AND LOCAL IN THE DEVELOPMENT AREA BANPOM SUB-DISTRICT ADMINITRATION ORGANIZATION, KHIRIMAT DISTRICT SUKHOTHAI

Abstract

This study aimed to 1. Investigate the level of elderlies’ roles towards social, community, and local development in the area of Ban Pom sub-district administrative organization, Kireemat District, Sukhothai Province, 2. Compare elderlies’ personal characteristics affecting their social, community and local development role, and 3. Investigate the relation between elderlies’ social and local development role and their family and society supports in their health perceptions. The survey methodology was applied in this study; the data were collected from 884 samples by using questionnaire and analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, f-test, Fisher's least-significant difference, as well as Pearson correlation coefficient.        

The finding revealed as follows.

1) The overview of level of elderlies’ roles towards social, community and local development in Ban Pom sub-district administrative organization, Kireemat District, Sukhothai Province was at an average level; organizing educational and cultural activities, organizing religious activities, organizing voluntary activities, organizing political activities and sports respectively.

2) The result of the comparison of elderlies’ personal characteristics affecting their social, community and local development role was found that different genders, ages, social statuses, levels of education, and living styles affected the level of the participation in community and society development were at the 0.05 significant level.

3) According to the relation between elderlies’ social, community and local development role and their family and society supports in their health perceptions, the finding indicated that there was the difference between two elderlies’ groups (the first group was elderlies who always participated in religious activities and the second was elderlies who usually participated in recreational activities and sports) at the 0.05 significant level.
