ANXIETY IN ENGLISH FOR EVERYDAY COMMUNICATION COURSE OF FIRST – YEAR STUDENTS AT RAJAMANGALA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY LANNA CHIANG MAI

Abstract
The objectives of this study were to 1) study the anxiety levels of students in the English for Everyday Communication course, 2) compare the anxiety levels of students in the English for Everyday Communication course. The sample was 323 first-year students who enrolled in English for Everyday Communication during the first semester of the academic year 2019 at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Chiang Mai. The instrument in data collection was questionnaires and data were analyzed to acquire Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, T – test Independent and One-Way ANOVA.
The findings of this research showed that 1) the existence of anxiety among students who attended the English for Everyday Communication course in overall were at a moderate level. When considering each aspect, it was found that speaking anxiety was the highest average at a moderate level, followed by writing anxiety was at a moderate level as well. Listening anxiety was the lowest average at a low level. 2) according to students’ gender, age, school, school location, and English subject average scores, there were no significant differences at the 0.05 level in anxiety level in both overview and each aspect. And when categorized by faculty, there was statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level in anxiety level in both overview and each aspect.
