A STUDY ON THE PRINCIPLES AND METHODS OF THE PRACTICE KAMMAṬṬHĀNA OF PHRADHATUDOIKAEW’S SANGGHA SCHOOL, MAE PHRIK SUB-DISTRICT, MAE SUAY DISTRICT, CHIANG RAI PROVINCE

Abstract
This thesis had three objectives i.e.; 1) to study the principles and method of Kammaṭṭhāna practice in Theravada Buddhism Scripture, 2) to study the principles and method of Kammaṭṭhāna practice of Phra That Doi Kaew Sanggha’s School in Mae Phrik Sub-district, Mae Suay District, Chiang Rai Province, and 3) to analyze the principles and method of practice meditation of Phra That Doi Kaew Monastery in Mae Phrik Sub-district, Mae Suay District, Chiang Rai Province
This work was a qualitative research. it studied from the documents, observation and the interviews. The sample grouping were 16 persons namely; group 1 the head monk of practice meditation of Phra That Doi Kaew Monastery in Mae Phrik Sub-district, Mae Suay District, Chiang Rai Province 1 persons, group 2 Buddhist monks who were practiced meditation of Phra That Doi Kaew Monastery about 9 persons and the other practice (male and female) about 6 persons.
The findings revealed that Kammaṭṭhāna is the practice for suitable make mind to develop or upgrade mind for being free from suffering. The Kammaṭṭhāna has two kinds namely; 1) Samathakammaṭṭhāna, emphasizes practice for making peace of mind and 2) Vipassanākammaṭṭhāna, the considering everything according to the truth until liberation from passion. Samathakammaṭṭhāna are 10 practices namely; Kasiṇ10, Asubha 10, Anusati 10, Bāhmavihāra 4, Arūpa 4, Āhārepaṭikūlsañā 1, Catudhāvavaṭṭāna 1. Vipassanā kammaṭṭhāna is the practice based on the Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna 4 namely; Kāyānu passanāsatipaṭṭhāna Vedanāsatipaṭṭhāna Cittānupassanāsatipaṭṭhāna Dhammānu passanāsatipaṭṭhāna.
In part of the principles and method of practice meditation of Phra That Doi Kaew Monastery in Mae Phrik Sub-district, Mae Suay District, Chiang Rai Province found that it was practiced based on Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna 4 of Phrakrusukiccanuraksa’s guideline (Koun Aggavayo), Wattakieanthong, Maung District, Rayong Province as practice with eyes closing for walking surrounds in 6 steps. When analytical comparative with Buddhist scripture found that it had some different issue as closing eye for walking surrounds, tell step for Jhāna and Ñāṇ completed that that step was not appeared in Tipiṭaka. However, the result of that practice found that the practice had better on the body, speech, mind and had further happiness in them mind.
