AN ANALYSIS THE VALUES OF BUDDHADHAMMA PRINCIPLES APPEARED IN MAHĀVESSANTARAJĀTAKA

Abstract

The research objectives were 1) to study the origin and the essential of Mahāvessantarajātaka, 2) to study the Buddhadhamma principle appeared in Mahāvessantarajātaka and 3) to analyze values of Buddhadhamma principle appeared in Mahāvessantarajātaka. This research was a qualitative research. It had both documentary study from text books, research and in-depth interview. The results were found as follow;

1. Mahāvessantarajātaka is a Buddhist literature that has well known to general people. It sometime is called Mahājātaka which is the story of Bodhisāttvā when he was born as Phrāvessāndorn. It was the last of jātakas in 10 nations and in total 547 nations. There were 13 parts of Mahāvessantarajātaka as follow 1) Dāsāporn, 2) Himmāpānā, 3) Dānā, 4) Wanapaved, 5) Jūjaka, 6) Julāpālā, 7) Mahāpala, 8) Kumāra, 9) Mataree, 10) Sakkābap, 11) Mahāraja, 12) chakasata and 13) Nakara.

2. Buddhadhamma principles appeared in Mahāvessantarajātaka were consisted of Karmma principle, Heedlessness principle, Dāna principle, Gharāvāsa-Dhamma principle, Adhipateyya principle, Brahmavihāra principle, Six Disas principle, Sanghavatthu principle, Santosa principle, Mitta principle, PancaSīla principle, Kālāmāsūtta principle, Musāvāda principle, Kataññūkataveditā principle, Kosalla principle, Adihitthānnadhamma principle, Akusalamūla principle, Bhojane-mattannutā principle, Sārānīyadhamma principle

3. In values of the Buddhadhama principles appeared in Mahāvessantarajātaka found that there were 4 values 1) physical values, it can help us not to be careless in life, it help us to realize the value of the physical and take care of ourselves, 2) mind values aspect, it can develop mind to be generous and kind, not to be jealous and increase the understanding of the truth, 3) social values, it can help us to live in society peacefully has harmony, strong society, decrease problems of family and 4) the traditional and cultural values, Buddhdhama principle can be hold in them mind in rite making that become the custom and traditional Buddhism.
