AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE DEITES’ QUESTIONS PALM LEAVES OF WAT RONGFONG, RONGFONG SUB-DISTRICT, MUANG PHRAE DISTRICT, PHRAE PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) to study the history, content and structure of the Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province 2) to oversee and purify the Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province 3) to analyze the doctrines and values in the Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province. This is a documentary research study by studying from the Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong Edition, Tipitaka, books, documents and related texts.

The results of the research were as follows :

1. The Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province. It was written with the knowledge, abilities, and intellect of the author. The model is based on the Tipitaka and the Atthakatha scriptures. The aim is to present about the subject of karma or the results of doing good and bad karma. It also shows the importance of preserving important Buddhist scriptures. The scriptures are described in a blend of rhetorical and descriptive forms. In order for those who have studied and listened to have the pleasure of studying and acquiring knowledge. First of all, it is a description of the contents of the scriptures, showing who is included. In the latter, it is stylistic. By bringing up Pali vocabulary to expand the meaning for presenting the content and proceeding with the content in order, approximately 42 pages.

2. The oversee and purify the Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province, the researcher has used the rules for translating letters that are widely accepted in Lanna. From the oversee, it was found that Pali language is used that is quite different from the current Pali grammar. Because it is a speech that uses spelling according to the accent of the sound. Therefore, the check was made to be correct according to the principles of Pali grammar. As for the overall content, it has been translated and interpreted into modern languages, both native and Central Thai. So that those who are interested in studying can understand and make it easy to study.

3. The analysis of the doctrines and values shown in the Deites’ Questions Palm Leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province found that; the principles are shown that are consistent with the subject matter. There are Puññakiriyā-vatthu 3 which are Dānamai, Sīlamai, Bhāvanāmai, and Kusalakamma-patha 3, namely Kāyakamma 3, Vacīkamma 4, and Manokamma 3. It also shows that people who are affected by the practice will be born in different worlds. The Deites’ Questions palm leaves of Wat Rongfong, Rongfong Sub-district, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province will help promote the propagation of the teachings of Buddhism through literature which is the heritage of the nation's wisdom.
