ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION FOR ENHANCING ACHIEVEMENT TOWARDS EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN CHON DAEN AND WICHIAN BURI DISTRICTS, PHETCHABUN PROVINCE

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were 1) to study scope of academic administration for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence in private schools in Chon Daen and Wichian Buri districts, Phetchabun province; 2) to develop academic administration for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence in private schools in Chon Daen and Wichian Buri districts, Phetchabun province; and 3) to compare academic administration scopes for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence in private schools in Chon Daen and Wichian Buri districts, Phetchabun province according to administrator, teacher, and school personnel opinions classified by their length of service and income. The consistent 5-scale rating questionnaire, with an index of item-objective congruence (IOC) consistency index between 0.67-1.00, was used to collect data from 320 population. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, frequency, and standard deviation. One-way ANOVA and F-Test were used to analyze income variables, while the T-test was used to analyze service length variables.

          The findings were as follows:

          1) Scope of academic administration for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence in private schools in Chon Daen and Wichian Buri districts, Phetchabun province consisted of 8 aspects: 1. developing or taking action in giving opinions on the local curriculum development; 2. academic planning; 3. learning management; 4. curriculum development on teaching and learning in educational institutions; 5. learning process development; 6. measurement, evaluation, and transfer of academic achievement; 7. selection of textbooks used in educational institutions; and 8. development and usage of educational technology.

          2) Academic administration for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence in private schools in Chon Daen and Wichian Buri districts, Phetchabun province overall was at a high level (μ = 4.08, σ = 0.67). In particular, arranging item mean scores from highest to lowest were selection of textbooks used in educational institutions; measurement, evaluation, and transfer of academic achievement; learning process development; developing or taking action in giving opinions on the local curriculum development; development and usage of educational technology; curriculum development on teaching and learning in educational institutions; and academic planning.

          3) The different service lengths, administrations, and incomes influenced academic administration for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence with a significance level of .05. According to the hypothesis testing, academic administrators with different service lengths had different academic management for enhancing achievement towards academic excellence; the hypothesis was accepted. In particular, each aspect was different. Academic administrators with different incomes had different opinions on academic administration; the hypothesis was accepted. In particular, each aspect was different with a significance level of .05 (p = 0.001). The analysis of variance revealed that academic administration differed, classified by length of service and income.
