The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop reading skill on Thai basic vocabulary, 2) to compare reading skills between pre-school and post-school. The sample group was 18 students used a purposive sampling method. The research instrument was Thai basic vocabulary reading test, Thai basic vocabulary reading Exercises, and pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using statistics including mean (𝑥̅), standard deviation (S.D.) and t-test.
The results showed the development of Thai basic vocabulary reading skills Before and after school of Prathom Suksa 4 students at Ban Huai Phueng Mai School, Mae Tho Subdistrict, Mae La Noi District Mae Hong Son Province. 70.98% of the students improved their reading skills. The reading achievement of basic Thai vocabulary had an average (𝑥̅) before learning equal to 10.87 and an average after learning equal to 24.18. The standard deviation S.D. before and after the study was 5.00 and 11.94 respectively. The calculated t is 15.14 with the critical value of t in the table equal to 2.13. The calculated t is greater than the critical value of t in the table. Therefore, it can be concluded that Grade 4 students had higher reading achievement after school than before. And there was a statistically significant difference at the .05 level.
